A Decade of Research, A Future of Innovation

Dr. Khan’s motivation stemmed from his extensive operational research and collaborations with multidisciplinary experts across international organisations, industry, academia and the public sector. These projects, conducted across 10 countries and diverse climates, uncovered key barriers to optimal decision-making at both local and regional scales. In today’s climate-challenged world, agriculture faces growing complexity—from resource constraints to environmental degradation. Recognizing the need for a diverse set of technological and agricultural skills, Dr. Khan provided real-time data analytics, solving complex problems across sectors including surface and groundwater management, food security, climate change, forest resources, and disaster risk reduction for industries, governments, and communities, promoting sustainable productivity. Valorization process and close collaboration with farmers marked the next big step – the Land & Water Assessment app. This third digital tool combined the functionalities of previous tools. The Land & Water Assessment introduced an expert inference engine. The engine transforms the data into actionable insights and provides easy access to data and offers expert guidance on what to grow and how to grow. This innovation empowers farmers with precise, science-based guidance for optimal farming practices.

Our advanced technology provides real-time environmental intelligence, helping businesses, governments, and organizations make data-driven decisions for a more sustainable future. By integrating high-resolution satellite data, sensor networks, and predictive analytics, we deliver actionable insights on climate change, land use, and resource management. ESS empowers industries to monitor, optimize, and reduce their environmental impact, ensuring a smarter, greener planet. With ESS, you’re not just leveraging cutting-edge technology—you’re investing in a sustainable future.

Science in Action- From Innovation to Enterprise

By 2024, after years of operational field research and development, Earth Scan Systems emerged as a start-up in agricultural technology, dedicated to bridging the gap between farmers and the resources they need to thrive in an ever-evolving landscape. As ESS began evolving into a full-scale solution provider, the team started developing advanced technologies tailored for a wide range of clients—including farmers, agro-industries, carbon projects, and natural resource managers. This led to the launch of ESS’s user-friendly web platform, “Agri-Insights”, which allows users to compare farm performance across seasons and assess the impact of management practices using data from ESS’s state-of-the-art Crop Monitoring System.

Forward-Looking Strategies

Focusing on collaborative projects and technological advancements to drive sustainable agriculture and address global challenges related to agriculture and resource management.

Launch of Crop Monitoring System

Released both web and mobile versions of the Crop Monitoring system, delivering innovative solutions in several key areas. A long collaboration with farmers led to the need for creation of a learning platform to help them understand and use digital tools. Initially, this was achieved through training, tutorials, and farmer cards. It has since expanded with the introduction of ESS GreenBot, an AI-based tool. GreenBot now provides farmers with guidance on crop responses to natural factors and management practices, while also supporting the use of ESS’s latest crop monitoring systems. This empowers farmers to make data-driven decisions for better farming outcomes. This year, while working with a mega project of a prospective client for carbon credits, we developed 3 more digital applications that enabled the client to fulfil regulator’s data and information needs. Now ESS can help its clients to monitoring any area globally and estimate vegetation behaviour to identify land clearing and temporal vegetation performance viz a viz climatic condition.

Satellite Monitoring and User Learning

AI Crop-Guard of ESS delivers AI-driven weekly satellite image analysis to evaluate vegetation vigor, crop moisture, and growth metrics.

Water Analytics

Water-Guard of ESS provides cloud-based computation of crop water needs, following FAO best practices, currently unmatched by ESS’s competitors.

Weather Analytics

Weather-Man of ESS offers 14-day hyperlocal weather predictions and analytics to support crop management and pest forecasting, with only partial implementation by few competitors.

Core Components of ESS Crop Monitoring System

ESS GreenBot is your AI-powered farm assistant, offering real-time insights based on
satellite data, crop stages, and weather conditions.
It guides farmers with timely, data-driven recommendations to optimize productivity, input
use, and sustainability.
